It's been awhile since my last blog post (I know, you are probably very sad about this). I chalk this up to the fact that it's towards the end of the semester and I have not had too much free time recently. Which is kind of sort of related to the topic of today's blog post, so I'll go ahead and jump right in...
I'm ready for school to start.
Isn't it kind of funny how in high school every single one of us most certainly dreaded the first day of school? It was the beginning of another long year in school and the summer always seemed much too short. And to top it off, some or maybe almost all of us (including myself) would put off all of the summer homework until a couple days before, making that last week of summer really no fun it all.
But fast forward to college, and I like many others really just can't wait for the school year to start.
For most college kids the reason is really pretty simple: college is fun. Sure, there's homework and tests and projects and studying, but college is also where all of your friends are. And all of your student groups and college sports and other things that make college great.
Really, for many, the summer is just a dead time where you sit back at home and count down the days until you can see all your friends again and kick off another year of school that seems to fly by much too quickly.
I'm ready for school to start, but not for exactly the same reasons.
I go to school in the same town where I live at home, so I'm still able to hang out with my college friends during the summer. And though UC isn't exactly the same during the summer, there's still some sizable activity and fun going on.
I'm excited to start school because I'm also glad to be finishing up my co-op. Now don't get me wrong - my co-op position this summer has been a whole lot of fun and I've learned a lot. But the long days and waking up early day after day really does get tiring after 15 weeks. Kind of how studying and homework and exams get tiring after 15 weeks.
Really, the 15 week rotation is the best. By the time you get tired of work, you switch to classes, and about the same time you're completely fed up with classes, you get to go back to co-op.
Plus this semester in particular there is a lot for me to look forward to in addition to more sleep and free time and friends. There's career fair at the end of September which I've been working a lot on recently, plus a bunch of other SG initiatives both within USG and Tribunal that I'm excited to get into.
So basically, I've got 5 days of co-op left, and it's been great. But I'm ready for fall weather, sleeping in, hanging out more with friends, football, and yes, even classes.
Well, at least for a little while.
